Highlight commit to which the parent repo points to in the log for submodules
Feature request.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Given a repo containing a submodule
- Commit a changes in the submodule
- Open the Commit dialog on the parent repo
- Right click the submodule & chose "Compare with Base"
- In the lower "To (Working Tree" section, click "Show log"
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
In a similar way to a tag or branch, show the commit that the parent repo is currently pointing to. I can see below that I'g going to get 3 submodule commits when I commit the submodule in the parent project.
What version of TortoiseGit and Git are you using? On what operating system?
TortoiseGit 2.2.0.0 (C:\Program Files\TortoiseGit\bin)
git version 2.8.1.windows.1 (C:\dev\tools\Git\bin; C:\dev\tools\Git\mingw64; C:\dev\tools\Git\mingw64\etc\gitconfig; C:\ProgramData\Git\config) Windows 8.1
Please provide any additional information below.
Scenario: When I bump a submodule, I like to know what has changed in the submodule since I last committed it. Currently it's a bit manual trying to find what submodule changes I'm getting.
An alternative would be to only show the history from the current submodule pointer to the head when the log is shown.
