No way in "Show log" to navigate directly to a commit by its hash
By davide.by.z... on October 06, 2013 06:18 (imported from Google Code)
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Have lots of commits that point to other commits' hashes in their log messages.
- Use Ctrl+F to find a commit by its hash, because it's currently the only way.
- Ctrl+F has to slog through all of the commits that have the hash of the commit you want to go to in their log message, before it finally reaches the commit you actually want to view.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
There should be a hotkey like Ctrl+G (or even just plain 'G', or 'J' for Jump) to Go To a commit by its hash, tag, branch name, etc.
What version of TortoiseGit and msysgit are you using? On
what operating system?
TortoiseGit 1.8.5.3, git 1.8.0.msysgit.0, Windows XP Pro SP2 64-bit.
Please provide any additional information below.
It'd also be nice to have a hotkey that copies the hash of the currently viewed commit into the clipboard. Shift+Ctrl+C would do nicely. Though this would just be icing on the cake, because it is pretty easy to double click on the commit hash and press Ctrl+C.
