When editing git notes, spurious reformatting is done
By davide.by.z... on October 19, 2013 05:29 (imported from Google Code)
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- In "Show log", right-click a revision that already has git notes attached to it, and click "Edit Notes".
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Buggy behavior: The note is opened for editing in the form in which it is shown in the Log Messages window; the string "Notes:" is prepended at the top (with a newline before and after it), and the entire text of the note is indented four spaces.
If I edit the note and click "OK", it is saved with these modifications, and the result is then shown in the Log Messages window with two "Notes:" prepended, indented eight spaces. (If the cycle is continued, an extra "Notes:" and four space indent will happen each time.)
The workaround is either:
- to manually remove the "Notes:", extra newlines, and indentation, when using TortoiseGit to edit notes, or,
- to not use TortoiseGit to edit notes
What version of TortoiseGit and msysgit are you using? On
what operating system?
TortoiseGit 1.8.5.4; 1.8.0.msysgit.0; Windows XP Professional SP2 64-bit
Please provide any additional information below.
The fact that "Notes:" is prepended in the Log Messages window is itself a bug, because "Notes" is already prepended above it, so all notes end up being shown with two lines above them:
