Filter textbox in log window
By ...@wolke7.net on June 17, 2011 06:56 (imported from Google Code)
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Open the log window.
- Type a filter string in the textbox of the log window.
- Click on one of the filtered commits and then remove the filter string.
What is the expected output?
I would expect that the cursor stays on the highlighted commit when the filter is removed. This way, one could use the filter to find a certain commit, then click on the commit and afterwards remove the filter to see the history around the commit in question.
What do you see?
When the filter string is removed the history jumps back to the top, it does not stay on the highlighted commit.
This makes it difficult to access the history around a certain commit. With the filter, only the commits are shown that include the filter string. The history around the commits is not shown and it is also not clear on which branch the filtered commits are.
Suggestion for a further enhancement:
It would be nice to have a search textbox, so that the history will be displayed as before but the first, second, ... occurrence of the search string will be highlighted (as e.g. the search function in a text editor or a browser).
This would make it a lot easier to access the history around a certain commit.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
TortoiseGit 1.6.5.0, msysgit 1.7.4, Windows 7 64 bit
